Lorenc+Yoo Design(Atlanta) is designing a series of gateway monuments as part of the Welcome to Georgia project, an initiative by the Georgia Department of Transportation. Working with AMEC Environmental & Infrastructure and Andrew Crawford Ironworks, Lorenc+Yoo is designing the monuments to be placed at the busiest highway entry points into Georgia.
Lorenc+Yoo Design is also working on two projects in India. With tvs design and Gumberg, the firm is part of the design team developing a signage and wayfinding program for North Country Mall in Chandigarth, India. Lorenc+Yoo Design is also working with Hines and Robert A.M. Stern Architects on the Horizon Center in Gurgaon, India.
The firm also named Cathy Tang as its Marketing Manager for China. Tang will focus on publicity and business development opportunities in China and in the region. She is also an interior designer and will contribute to Lorenc+Yoo Design projects worldwide.
Lorenc+Yoo Design also recently won two design awards. The firm’s wayfinding and sculptural work for the Fish in the Garden development in Guangzhou, China, won Best of Show in the Signs of the Times International Sign Contest. And the firm won a Bronze Award from Exhibitor Magazine for its tradeshow exhibit for Brookfield Properties.
Jan Lorenc was a featured speaker at the annual Gravity Free conference in Chicago in May. He answered questions on what most annoys him about the design industry today and what, if any, role remains for the “outlaw designer.”
