Lee H. Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership (New York) announced that the Children's Library Discovery Center at the Queens Library, for which it produced the interior enhancements and environmental graphics, has been selected as the 2013 New York Library Association – Public Libraries Section Building Award for a library serving a population of 20,000 plus.

The award will be presented at the PLS annual meeting at the NYLA Annual Conference on Friday, September 27.

The three-story Discovery Center was added to the main branch of the Queens Library in Jamaica, N.Y., in 2011. LHSA+SP created all EGD elements including a unique floor map of Queens, a wraparound mural, a ceiling sculpture, and custom furniture.
