LEDCONN Corp. (Brea, Calif.) provided its iFIT LED Light Panel as the backlighting for the exhibit created for the Space Shuttle Endeavor’s new home at the California Science Center. Over 1 million guests have visited the Science Center since October 2012, when the Space Shuttle was permanently docked at the museum after 25 missions and 4,671 orbits around the Earth.
The science center’s 17,225-sq.-ft. Samuel Oschin Pavilion contains high ceilings that made lighting the space shuttle exhibit challenging. Exhibit fabricator Ironwood and the client chose LEDCONN’s edge-lit iFit LED Light Panels, which are just ¼-in. thick and minimized the visual clutter and shadowing that might have resulted from use of suspended track lighting. The exhibit uses a total of 16 iFit panels in various sizes, dramatically complementing the technological ambience of the exhibit without light spillage, says the client.
