As Managing Director of Maynard Design Group, Julian brings 30 years of design experience within the transport and public realm sectors. He studied Industrial Design at the Royal College of Art and is a Fellow at the Royal Chartered Society of Designers.

Combining creativity with technical knowledge, Julian has an extensive record of successfully leading multidisciplinary teams, delivering large-scale transport infrastructure projects around the world, prompting Maynard's expansion internationally with design studios in Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland. His reputation for providing user centred and successful wayfinding systems has resulted in international commissions for some of the largest transport infrastructure projects across Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East and China.

Julian is interested in how people interact with services, products and environments and the opportunities that new materials and digital technologies can bring to enhance the overall customer experience. He has successfully delivered innovation and new technology projects for the Department for Transport, Innovate UK and Transport Catapult.

Julian is an acknowledged industry expert and is regularly an invited speaker at international conferences as well as participating on expert review panels for transport authorities.
