John Scheffel is tall in both stature and talent and has worked extensively around the globe and the U.S. As senior designer for a wide variety of retail and leisure-oriented projects, John provides comprehensive design for all aspects of the built environment. His extensive skill-set includes brand strategy, marketing, print collateral, signage, environmental graphics, and branded environments. As a Senior Designer and Brand Strategist for api(+), John works closely with clients to ensure their brand, vision, and core values come to life in an environment that is both appealing to their customer base and performs above expectations.
John has designed and managed both large-scale and small-scale graphics and signage projects for a wide variety of sectors, including retail, entertainment, finance and banking, hospitality and restaurants, sports facilities, grocery retailers, museums, and civic programs. Prior to joining api(+) in 2005, John worked with Gensler, RTKL, Kiku Obata & Company, and Calori & Vanden-Eynden.
John Scheffel's project experience includes prototype store design for PNC Bank, Wachovia, ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, Fitlife Foods, and Family Dollar, brand strategy and store design services for Walmart and their Japanese banner Seiyu, branded restaurant environments for Earl of Sandwich, Giardino's Gourmet Salads, Mekenita Mexican Grille, and Rays 'N Bread Cafe, "store within a store" consumer display for Driscoll's, and Boar's Head Brands, and branded grocery environments for Lowes Foods, Schnucks, Food Lion, Kroger, Native Sun, and Kings.
Projects geared towards the Hispanic consumer include prototype store design for Viva Movil (a partnership between Verizon and Jennifer Lopez), prototype store design for Carnival Supermarkets, brand development and comprehensive branded environment for Dona Tota Gorditas expansion to the U.S., T-Mobile, Navarro Discount Pharmacies, and Rattan Hypermarkets.
Signage and wayfinding projects include: City of St Petersburg Wayfinding, Fidelity Investments, Plaza Las Americas, Woodward Avenue, East Side Access, Our Lucaya Beach Resort, Kirin Brewery, Grand Center, Universal Studios Islands of Adventure (Toon Lagoon), AMC, Plaza Frontenac, The Palace at Auburn Hills, Carolina Panthers Stadium, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Stadium.
