Jennifer Andrews is the founder and president of Masterwork Plaques Inc., an artisan based metal signage company in Brooklyn, New York. Originally trained as a painter and fine artist, Jennifer was drawn to the collaborative aspects of public art in the late 90’s and became a principal at Andrews/LeFevre Studios creating commissioned artworks across the US in contemporary sculpture materials.
After extensive work with communities designing illustrated bronze relief works, Jennifer realized the need that existed outside the public art realm for custom artistic signage in metal. Masterwork Plaques was born and began fabricating and casting for graphic designers, landscape architects, municipal and corporate clients. Jennifer enjoys helping Masterwork’s clients find contemporary solutions using time-tested materials. She has a passion for preserving lost and alternative histories and her past experience providing research and project management services makes her a natural teammate for experiential graphic designers.
Jennifer Andrews has collaborated with designers on projects for Madison Square Garden, Colonial Williamsburg, Starbucks, Apollo Theatre, Central Park Conservancy, RAM Stern Architects, NYC Parks, West Point Academy, American Museum of Natural History and many major American cities. She recently worked in Azerbaijan with Baku White City’s design team to create a monument wall, landmark medallion and interpretive insets for Atkins’ 'Gateway Building,' which functions as the entry to the newly built city.
One of Masterwork Plaques’ specialties is metal relief panels. Jennifer’s team has worked to develop specialty installation hardware and finishing techniques to make permanent sidewalk embedments that are ADA compliant. These are used by designers for walks of fame, wayfinding programs, historic and literary trails, store entrance sidewalk medallions and donor walks.
