Jason Medrano is an Art Director at IdeaBase located in Kent, Ohio. Having graduated as Cum Laude from Kent State University (2015-18), Jason earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the School of Visual Communication Design (VCD).
A Latino multidisciplinary designer, Jason Medrano specializes in inclusive, people-focused brand development. Currently, at IdeaBase, he is creating this year’s annual Athletic’s Program for Kent State University, a view book rebrand for the College of Architecture and Environmental Design, and book cover design for the College of Communication and Information’s study abroad guide by Morgan Frantz.
IdeaBase is research-based, student-powered design agency located in downtown Kent, Ohio consisting of a team of culture, discipline, and passion for creating meaningful solutions for clients. As Art Director, Jason participates in client meetings, assists other designers with developing strategical concepts while multitasking between 2-3 projects.
Additionally, Jason Medrano is currently freelancing for a client’s startup company and is open for even more opportunities to collaborate. Through his interest in the design community, Jason created “TacoBoutDesign”, a student association for Kent State’s Visual Communication Design program to foster communication and collaboration for all student projects after classes.
Having completed Kent State’s four-year VCD program in three years, due to taking 15-18 credits per semester while maintaining cum laude status, Jason also graduated debt-free thanks to numerous scholarships and strong work ethic. During the VCD senior show “Final_show/BFA.” Jason was recognized for his determination in design by the faculty of Visual Communication Design.
