For the Chinese developer Vanke, we created the immersive brand experience for OPALUS, an urban development in Guangzhou. The scope included storyline and branding strategy, and we even wrote a fairy tale to set the tone for the project. We also led the team of architects, interior designers and landscape architects who realized our placemaking vision including the logo, signage, sculptures, the entry sequence, lighting, fountains, pavilions and other public spaces.

Jan Lorenc leads a multidisciplinary team of architects, graphic designers, sculptors and industrial designers at Lorenc+Yoo Design, the firm that he founded in 1978. He has been honored internationally by numerous design publications and organizations, and was named one of the “Twenty-Five Monuments to Environmental Graphics” by the Society of Experiential Graphic Design. As the firm president, his goal is to make the world a better place through DESIGN, to understand different world cultures and bring those into our international work., and to inspire others to achieve their potential in the world. He is a frequent lecturer in the United States, China and Korea, and serves as a design advisor to numerous non-profits and government bodies.
Mr. Jan Lorenc immigrated to the United States from rural Poland with his parents at age eight. He earned degrees in industrial design from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and a degree in architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has taught design at the university level, most recently at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta. Mr. Lorenc is a co-author of the definitive museum and exhibit design textbook–“What Is Exhibition Design?”, Rotovision, 2007–which has been translated and published in Chinese, Russian, Korean, and his native tongue Polish.
