Iconograph is an Experiential Graphic Design (EGD) firm located in Charlottesville, Virginia co-founded by Brittney Butler. Iconograph creatively bridges the gap between human interaction with the built environment through the use of color, signage, materials, exhibits, wayfinding, theming, and digital interaction to evoke and create emotion, teachable moments, and deep content that directly relates to the architecture around it.
EGD is the intersection of communication design and the built environment through an interdisciplinary design process to convey stories, activate spaces, navigate visitors, educate learners, and engage users to their surroundings. Content and context clues are extremely important with how users identify with the space they are in. Each project, regardless of its building type has a relation to its natural environment, historical, or geographic context. Pulling from the inherent storylines as drivers in design can help differentiate any place in order to connect users to something that they can relate to. Iconograph’s wayfinding and signage design supports teaching and learning aims through environments that inspire and educate with a deep commitment to healthy, happy, and forward-looking learning environments.
Each client and project are unique in their needs and vision. To bring these visions to life in an innovative way, Iconograph provides the full range of design services from programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, final artwork, and bid documentation to construction administration services of bidding, reviewing shop drawings and installation for quality control.
