Director of Education
Hilary serves as Director of Education, responsible for developing meaningful educational experiences for all audiences of SEGD's programs, with the purpose of advancing the organization’s mission to"educate, connect and inspire." She also acts as a voice for advancing experience design and education in experience design.
Hilary Jay is an award-winning journalist, creative strategist and entrepreneur, nationally known for founding the first American multi-day design festival, DesignPhiladelphia, in 2005. She has worked in leadership positions with both non-profit and for-profit enterprises, including Econsult Solutions; The Center for Architecture + Design; the American Institute of Architecture, Philadelphia chapter; University of the Arts; Thomas Jefferson University & Hospital; The Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation; The Design Center at Philadelphia University; and the cities of Baltimore and Philadelphia.
Hilary Jay’s own jewelry and watch design work, Maximal Art, is included in several books and permanent museum collections, including Fabulous Fakes – The History of Fantasy & Fashion Jewelry; Jewels of Fantasy – Costume Jewelry of the 20th-Century; London’s Victoria and Albert Museum; Musée des Arts Décoratifs; Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Hilary earned her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania (Magna Cum Laude), with additional coursework at the Wharton School. She also taught at the University of the Arts.
