Fletcher Martin is a founding principal and creative director at a5, a branding and digital firm that tells client stories in clear, concise, consistent, and compelling ways. He is responsible for the design development and creative direction of a5 projects, including branding and identity, interactive design, naming, and more.
Fletcher Martin has served as an executive board member (Treasurer) of the Chicago chapter of the AIGA – the professional organization for design. He has a special interest in large-scale economic and demographic trends and how they relate to clients and the design industry in general.
Fletcher has also served as a volunteer creative director for two creative rallies for EPIC, a nonprofit that pairs volunteer writers and designers with worthy causes and organizations. The EPIC projects he led included the rebranding of Illinois Humanities (2014) and messaging/collateral for Literacy Chicago (2009).
Before joining a5 in 2000, Fletcher Martin served as design director for VSA Partners, where he directed a team of designers for clients such as Harley-Davidson, Steelcase (office furniture), and SRAM (bicycle components); worked on the rebranding and deployment of Turnstone (a division of Steelcase); developed themes and design concepts for annual reports for Tyson Foods, Kaman, and Harley-Davidson; conceptualized and directed complex on-location photo shoots for Tyson Foods and Steelcase; and conceptualized and designed multiple collateral and promotional items for Potlatch Paper (now Sappi Paper).
Fletcher also worked as part of the design teams for Time Warner, Campbell Soup, Tyson Foods, Harley-Davidson, Kodak, General Motors, H20+ and Second Harvest.
He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Texas Christian University.
