FLAP Canada Event
Thursday, November 12, 2020 - 12:00pm to Friday, November 13, 2020 - 1:00am

On Thursday, November 12th, join us at Noon to find out how FLAP Canada has poured its efforts into protecting birds from the life-threatening dangers of our built environment.

Fatal Light Awareness Program (FLAP) Canada is a registered Canadian charity widely recognized as the pre-eminent authority on the bird-building collision issue. Since 1993, FLAP Canada has been using on-the-ground conservation, advocacy, policy development, research, awareness, education and outreach to inspire change that will stop this leading cause of bird death across the globe.

Executive Director, Michael Mesure shares his story and history of the Building Collision Movement, the Evolution of Bird Window Collision Research and Collision Mitigation Technologies, background on existing Bird-Friendly Guidelines, Standards and Laws, and future developments.

Michael tirelessly advocates for bird protections at various levels of government, as well as consults with city planners across North America on developing bird-friendly guidelines and standards. His work increasingly focuses on solutions to help mitigate and remediate the challenges of bird migrations in built environments, having led the BirdSafe® Building Standards and risk assessments, to help develop the Canadian Standards Association’s (CSA) Bird-Friendly Design standard as a technical committee member.

Also joining us is Armond Shahinian, one of the founders of PCL Graphics, has been in business for over 36 years.  Specialising in bespoke graphics fabrication, over the years PCL has developed speciality products the meet and exceed the challenges in our industry. They share their experience working with FLAP for the implementation and installation of film to protect against bird collision.

This is a free event, however, reservations are required.
