On April 12th, SEGD SF hosted “What + How”, a study and lively conversation considering best practices for different materials from design intent through fabrication. Facilitated and lead by Mikaela Couch of Gensler and David Payne of Splash!, we talked material successes and failures, shared lessons learned, looked at detail drawings and built project work, reviewed samples, and engaged the fellow participants in an on-going Q&A. We’ve received wonderful feedback and multiple requests for follow up events, and will let you know if any are in the works!
We’d like to share our heartfelt gratitude to all of those who made this event happen: to David Payne, Cindy McElvaney, Regan Mahoney, and all of those from the Splash! team who sponsored and help to craft this evening, to Mynin, Carol and Carin Wong of Elan Event Venue for hosting us, to Richard Herrera of AVT Productions (San Jose) for our seamless AV, and to Mikaela Couch and Leah Fergeson of Gensler, who developed the evenings’ presentation. Lastly, thank you to our emcees of the night, Mikaela and David. You two rocked.
