Entro (Toronto) created environmental graphics at the premiere venue for the Pan Am Games and Parapan Am Games being held in Toronto July 10 through August 15.
The CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatics Centre and Field House represents the largest investment ever in Canadian amateur sport history. The facility is a significant addition to Toronto, as it doubles the number of Olympic-sized pools in the region and meets international competition standards. During the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games, the complex is hosting swimming, diving, roller speed skating, pentathlon, and fencing events.
The environmental graphics take their cue from the alternating tilted planes of the venue’s dramatic roof structure, itself inspired by the rock fissures in the Canadian Shield. The Entro team created an abstract graphic form, influenced by waveforms interacting with light and shadow, for large-scale wall treatments in the building interior and as a key element on signage. Also featured on the dive tower backdrop, this graphic will be an iconic element during the Games. Entro's project scope also included wayfinding, directories, and other signage throughout the venue.
More than 6,000 athletes representing 41 countries are competing in 364 events encompassing 36 sports.
