Donald Sibbett is founder and a principal at The Sibbett Group, where he collaborates with other creatives to design exhibits for museums and visitor centers around the country. The Sibbett Group has created over 70 exhibit projects throughout the United States, contributed to 9 sustainable design projects and three LEED platinum projects, and designed two National Association for Interpretation award-winning projects.
Donald Sibbett’s first step in the design process is to hike or run the project site. And when the site is as awe-inspiring as the Grand Canyon, who can blame him? He takes on projects that range in size from square feet to square miles, and feels lucky to collaborate with clients who are passionate about their audience. Donald grew up in Alameda and worked his way through college by crewing on a salmon boat in Alaska.
The Sibett Group tells stories. By weaving interpretive graphics, audio, video, texture, and light together into compelling narratives, they work to engage the senses and inspire curiosity. They craft intriguing interactive elements that invite visitors of all ages to essentially become part of the exhibit and deepen their relationship to history and the natural world. Visitors are guests, and they believe it’s their job to serve up joy and delight.
