What happens when experiential graphic designers take on the challenge of designing a school? The SEGD San Diego chapter learned first hand from San Diego designers MaeLin and Amy Levine. MaeLin and Amy (of San Diego Design firm Visual Asylum) masterminded the design behind the Urban Discovery Academy, a K-8 charter school in San Diego's burgeoning East Village neighborhood.
The school's innovative look and feel is consistent throughout the building--from the dazzling exterior all the way down to the signage for the faculty restroom. Not to mention the curriculum, which encourages its students to learn through discovery and engagement with the community. No real surprise that the school's waiting list is over 200 long!
If you weren't able to make it to the event, you can catch Amy and Maelin at AIGA's Y-conference this year at the University of San Diego in April. Also, special thanks to 858 Graphics the SEGD SD chapter's slick new banner!
