Daktronics (Brookings, S.D.) has begun work on designing, manufacturing, and installing a new outfield display for the Sugar Land Skeeters and their fans at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas. The project is set to be completed this summer, just in time for the 2020 baseball season.
“We are beyond excited to bring the key staple of our game experience back to life before the 2020 season,” said Tyler Stamm, Skeeters general manager. "Constellation Field continues to be a premier baseball and event venue, and Daktronics' long-standing history of excellence made them a natural partner for this project. The new video boards, along with game production software upgrades, will drastically improve our fan experience at Constellation Field."
The new outfield LED display will measure about 25 feet high by 57.5 feet wide, with a 15HD pixel layout, to bring 1,452 square feet of visual real estate to entertain fans at the stadium. Additionally, this display features a 17 percent increase in resolution over the current display.
"This video board upgrade is going to improve the fan experience at Constellation Field," said Brandon DeSmet, Daktronics sales representative.
Also being added is a new LED scoreboard display ribbon—measuring about 3.5 feet high by 33.5 feet long with a 15HD pixel layout—which will provide additional information related to content on the main display, as well as enable opportunity to highlight sponsors during events.
For added usability and engagement, the outfield display can support various content types that can be manipulated to show one large image or multiple zoned images; or event a combination of live video, instant replays, graphics and animations, and up-to-the-minute statistics, game information, and sponsorship messages.
