So you're coming to the 2016 SEGD Conference Experience Seattle (Have you registered yet? Don't miss out on your first-choice on tours and workshops, register today!) and you're on a budget. Maybe you're a student, or you just have a passion for cheap local food?
Check out these recommended restaurants, all within walking distance from the 2016 SEGD Conference headquarters at the Westin Seattle:
1. Little Uncle
Thai | Capitol Hill | 1523 E Madison St #101, Seattle, WA 98122 | (206) 549-6507
Little Uncle has an enticing Thai menu, with spices and sauces you can buy and take home. Need a drink? Buy a shot and turn their tasty non-alcoholic drinks into a cocktail.
2. Tacos Chukis
Mexican Street Food | Capitol Hill | 219 Broadway E, Seattle, WA 98102 | (206) 328-4447
Tortas, street tacos and small burritos all under $7.50, and many options under $4. The word on the street: try the nopal asado and skip the quesadilla.
3. The Honey Hole
Sandwiches | Capitol Hill | 703 E Pike St, Seattle, WA 98122 | (206) 709-1399
Locally-sourced sandwiches, salads, soups and burgers for $8-12 until midnight. Vegan and gluten-free options available. We'd happily get lost in a "Fast Eddie" (Thinly sliced in house roasted hot tri-tip beef, melted pepper jack, sauteed onions, Mama Lil’s sweet hot peppers, and aioli on a demi baguette) and a "HH Fruit Julep" (whiskey, muddled mint, blackberry syrup, fresh grapefruit and club soda).
4. Hot Mama's Pizza
New York Style Pizza | Capitol Hill | 700 E Pine St, Seattle, WA 98122 | (206) 322-6444
Hot Mama's Pizza has a rather short menu by-the-slice, but you can also build your own 14" or 18" pie. Pro tip: pesto is the local favorite here, and is available until midnight. Tripadvisor.com users rate this hot spot 4.5 out of 5; yelpers give Mama 4 out of 5.
5. Rancho Bravo
Fast Mexican | Capitol Hill | 1001 E Pine St, Seattle, WA 98122 | (206) 322-9399
Is it 2 am? Are you wearing beer-goggles? Short on cash? If any or all of these conditions apply, this is the place for you! The entire menu offering is priced at under $7, they have Mexican Cokes, and yelpers recommend the Horchata. Cheap, fast and late at night (until 3am!) might not be what you're looking for in a life-partner, but lucky for Rancho Bravo's, those attributes are pretty desirable in a taco shop.
