Christopher Hibben has over 20 years of experience as a graphic designer, design manager and creative team member. He loves to bring innovative solutions to challenging design problems. Hibben’s focus has been on marketing materials, identity, branding and logo design, packaging, and exhibition design.
Christopher Hibben specializes in creative solutions for packaging design, exhibition design and marketing support for non-profits, corporations and individuals.
Hibben’s design experience is based on the foundations he built at Virginia Commonwealth University. Where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design and Visual Communication. Hibben also studied Graphic Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam.
After graduating he was hired as a Design Manager with the Pohligh Bros., Inc. In this position he supported sales through package design and graphic design, produced prototypes for client review, supervised pre-press coordination for in-house and outside vendor production and manufacturing, established, maintained and updated job jacket system for improved production workflow and efficiency, designed and produced award-winning printed collateral, art directed photo shoots, produced advertisements, signage and graphics, and hired, trained, supervised and evaluated junior designers. After 14 years in this position, he returned to his alma mater, Virginia Commonwealth University as a Graphic Designer in their Creative Services department. There he worked closely with the art director, writers, and the school’s clients. He provided graphic design solutions to a range of printed collateral projects for the University; posters, brochures, invitations, large-scale donor panels, and magazines. Hibben’s experiences with typography, photography, editing and print production provided innovative solutions for the clients' projects.
Christopher Hibben continued his career in Graphic Design through several different roles and with different companies. This includes; designer at 3 North Architects, Graphic Design for The Library of Virginia, Graphic Designer (contractor) for Genworth Financial, Graphic Designer for West Cary Group, and Proofer/Typesetter for Page Stationary, a division of Worth Higgins & Associates.
Hibben’s most recent career achievements include continuing his personal business, Christopher Hibben Graphic Design. He began this business in 1995 and has been running it for 23 years. He is the sole proprietor of the design office providing innovative graphic design and visual communication solutions for small businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals. He provides concept, strategic planning, design, layout, and production of marketing materials, collateral, identities & branding, packaging, exhibitions, and information design. He works with Adobe Creative Suite to create printed and digitally-based design solutions. Christopher Hibben also has been working as a Graphic Designer at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts for the past five years.
