Chloe Alexander is a first year graduate student at the Corcoran School of Design at George Washington University pursuing a Master degree in Exhibition Design. She is originally from Seattle, Washington, and her goals while living in D.C. are to make as many social and professional contacts as possible, while submerging herself in the cultural, political, and historical environment of the city.
Chloe Alexander previously earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Art History, Criticism and Conservation from the University of Oregon. While there, she was on the Deans List while she majored in Art History and minored in Comparative Literature.
Chloe Alexander worked as an intern at the Davidson Galleries in Seattle where she gained insight into a more direct experience of the collaborative efforts required for monthly exhibit installations in a commercial setting. Her responsibilities included updating the gallery website in order to implement a shopping cart feature for greater ease of purchase, dating and condition reporting antique prints, and matting and framing works on paper.
She also served as an exhibit design intern at the Seattle Art Museum. She assisted in the labeling and cataloging of art and object mounts. chloe gained experience in software programs such as Vectorworks, and The Museum System. During her time at the SAM, she also spent six weeks using the SAM archival library to aid a curatorial assistant on a research project pertaining to past museum donors and benefactors. Her internship at the SAM developed her interest in the creative and problem-solving process necessary to install elegant and engaging art exhibits in a museum.
