A HUGE THANKS to Image Mill and MG2 for being annual sponsors of the Seattle Chapter this year and supporting our design community and the industry!

Tuesday, June 9, 2020 - 5:00pm

Have you ever wondered about how SEGD came together, or the rise of the environmental graphics industry? Join us as we bring together three SEGD Fellows to discuss what it was like founding an industry association when "EGD" wasn't even a term, where we’ve been as a community… and if they ever expected where we'd be as an industry now.

Rich Burns and John Berry were both co-founders of SEGD and past presidents, and Sarah Speare was the first paid executive director of SEGD. Each, in turn, was recognized for their contributions to our industry as an SEGD Fellow.

The San Francisco Chapter is excited to virtually welcome our Fellows from across the country, and the full west coast region for an intimate virtual discussion with Rich, John, and Sarah.

If you have any questions in advance, please email us or ask us live during the event.

Expanding Imagination Over Lunch With Jan Lorenc

Event Details:
Wednesday, June 10, 2020 | 12:15pm PST
Live on Zoom

We're joining the Portland Chapter for a virtual lunch...

Have you ever wished you could sit down and have lunch with SEGD Fellow Jan Lorenc? Well, mark your calendars and pack a lunch because we are hosting an afternoon Zoom with world-renowned designer Jan Lorenc on Wednesday, June 10th from 12:15-1:00pm. We hope you can join!

A little history: Before establishing Lorenc+Yoo Design in 1978 in Chicago, Jan was already well known for designing the logo and signage guidelines for Target Stores (which are still in use today). In its early days, LYD undertook industrial design projects; they later began work on large-scale signage programs, and in the mid-1990s moved into exhibits, interiors and architecture.LYD has worked in Korea, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, India and Japan. Currently, half their work is in China where they create the vision and design for brand new towns.

We hope you can join us for this special lunchtime event. Admission is free, but you must register in advance -- follow the link below to register through Zoom. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with meeting details.

We can't wait to see you!

The Bacteria and the Virus: Navigating Healthcare Design

Join SEGD Salt Lake City for a virtual evening with SEGD Fellow David Gibson.

David Gibson is the Co-founder and Principal of Two Twelve in New York City, a pioneering force in the experiential graphic design industry for four decades. David with be sharing his personal and professional insights about two topics that are dominating our world: infectious diseases and healthcare. We hope you can join us. Please register below!

The Bacteria and the Virus: Navigating Healthcare Design

In the past year, SEGD Fellow David Gibson has had two personal experiences with deadly infection. In the fall of 2019, he was attacked by a fast moving strep infection and sepsis, in the spring of 2020, he was infected with the Coronavirus. He survived both and gained personal insight into navigating the dynamics of healthcare as a chronic patient.

David Gibson has 50 years experience as a designer. He has created wayfinding systems for some of the country’s most prominent healthcare institutions, including Boston Children’s Hospital, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Mount Sinai Medical Center, and Massachusetts General Hospital.

From both sides of the navigational lens, David will share his formula for driving patient-centered wayfinding in healthcare. He will discuss the design tools that make for effective navigation in stressful environments, the institutional will that must drive innovation, and the benefits of a wayfinding system that improves the patient experience.
