SEGD Denver RiNo Mural Tour

We had a great time hosting our members at this awesome sold-out mural tour, led by Tracy Weil executive director of the RiNo Arts District.

Everyone gathered on a cold October afternoon for a guided tour of the recently refreshed murals in Denver's hippest new neighborhood. With new works by local artists and famous muralists like Shepard Fairey, the guided tour touched on the ins and outs of how public art is selected and paid for in Denver, the Crush Walls public art event and other initiatives in the area to bring art to the fore in the public space.

Thanks to our generous sponsors (including Make West, RiNo Sign Works, the RiNo Arts District and Odell's Brewing Co.) we were able to welcome the tour attendees to a free happy hour at Odell's recently completed RiNo tap room. This event was so popular that we anticipate repeating it again this year in some form, in conjunction with the Crush Walls festival.

SEGD Denver's Speaker Series: Jan Lorenc

SEGD Denver recently hosted SEGD 2017 Fellow Jan Lorenc at the Denver Art Museum to present his work and speak about his years of experience leading the experiential graphic design field. Approximately 40 people attended the event where Jan explained his fascinating professional development trajectory, work experience and key projects around the globe.

The inspiring presentation touched on the multi and cross-discipline world of experiential graphic design and the collaboration and thought necessary to complete successful placemaking projects for all different kinds of clients. The event was capped off with a raffle of two signed copies of Jan's book What is Exhibition Design, the cherry on top of a fun and informative evening.

This event was a success thanks in part to our co-sponsors, Denver's other professional organizations for design, AIGA Colorado, ASLA Colorado, IDSA Rocky Mountain Chapter, Denver Does Design, WiD Colorado and others.

Thank you to our sponsors PAM Wayfinding and Boyd Sign Systems for their support of this event and our chapter.
