Join SEGD Chicago for an inspiring breakfast presentation by two local firms about their successful partnerships blending design and art.

Partners by Design and Luft have enjoyed a collaborative relationship working directly with clients to build a tailored and wholly-distinctive branding experience. Fully focused on how to best represent a client’s unique culture, each space tells the client’s story with the use of diverse materials.

Come for the food and coffee, stay for the presentation by Luft founder Crystal Hodges in conjunction with PBD. SEGD will also be discussing our concept for creating a chapter-collabortaive art piece. Come learn more and give us your input.

Tickets are free but please RSVP by clicking here.  All are welcome -- forward to your friends!

About the Event
SEGD Chicago's first event for 2017 will be a maker’s event, where we go old-school and learn how to screen print. The event is being hosted at Spudnik Press, a non-profit community printmaking studio located in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago. For the event, local artist Molly Z has graciously designed and donated two custom art pieces to screenprint onto your very own tote bag (tote will be provided). Join us March 15 to get away from the computer screen and enjoy some hands-on creative time with your colleagues.

You're invited to an informal and fun gathering where creatives in our local EGD community share their 20x20 presentations (20 slides, 20 seconds each) related to the topic of inspiration.  Come network, enjoy some refreshments, and experience the style of the Designtex showroom in the Merchandise Mart.

This event is sponsored by Designtex and is free and open to members and nonmembers. Please invite anyone interested! We are particularly interested in inviting students and young designers to learn more about the world of EGD.

Van Gogh’s Bedrooms, the landmark exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago, features digital and interactive exhibits that challenge visitors to discover an authentic, human side of Van Gogh’s life and work.

Bluecadet’s animators, designers, and developers worked collaboratively with the Art Institute's curatorial, conservation, digital experience teams to create experiences that immerse visitors in Van Gogh’s world – both physical and emotional. Staff of both teams will be giving SEGD an exclusive tour of the exhibit they helped bring to life.

After we experience the exhibition, Michael Neault, the Chicago Institute of Art’s Director of Digital Experience; Josh Goldblum, CEO and Founding Partner of Bluecadet; and Elizabeth Russell, Bluecadet’s producer for the project will give presentations on the collaborative efforts to bring the exhibits to life, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the design process.

See more of the exhibit and interactives on Bluecadet's website.

We had a great turnout for Tuesday's event at 1871, featuring a presentation on ADA requirements and photopolymer signage by Nova Polymers.

A big Thank You to our members from Gensler for giving tours of 1871's co-working, tech incubator space in the Merchandise Mart.  If you missed it, check out more from Gensler and 1871.

Bob Greenberger and Mike Santos from Nova Polymers are great resources for our industry regarding ADA-compliant signage.  Check out Nova Polymer's resources.
