Charlotte Chapter

Charlotte, NC Blog

Please join your fellow CLT SEGD’ers for a tour of the Charlotte skyline’s newest additions – 300 S. Tryon and the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel!

We’ll be starting at 300 S. Tryon, a brand new 27 story office tower and will be hearing all about the design process, construction details and challenges from the building’s architect – LS3P.  We’ll also have the building’s developer (Spectrum Companies) and signage and graphics consultant (Trademark Visual) to walk us through their ends of the build.

We’ll then move next door to the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel – one of Charlotte’s hottest uptown locations!  We’ll tour the 217 room luxury hotel and hear the story behind its inception / construction from the Kimpton GM, the architect (Cooper Carry ATL), the signage design consultant (Scholberg Design) and the fabricator (Trademark Visual).   We’ll end our tour on the roof at Merchant + Trade for some cocktails and apps!

Space is limited so please RSVP quickly to reserve your spot!

We look forward to seeing everyone!

Hello, SEGD Charlotte!

Come and experience Five Sense and meet the creators, Nick Napoletano and Mike Wirth, two community-minded local artists that have created a pop-up arts lab at the Mint Museum uptown. Afterwards we can gather at Halcyon (500 S Tryon St) for a powwow ;)

Date: Thursday Nov 30
Time: 4pm
Place: Mint Museum’s 5th floor mixed-use gallery

Five Sense is a pop-up arts incubation lab founded and developed by students of “Arts in Action” at Queens University of Charlotte. Lead by Prof. Mike Wirth and Charlotte artist Nick Napoletano, the students will use the arts to engage the community in recognizing, understanding and combatting statistics that rank Charlotte-Mecklenburg 49th out of 50 cities for upward mobility and 50th out of 50 for interracial trust. Located on the Mint Museum’s 5th floor mixed-use gallery, the class will host an “urban living room” where they can work and the community can participate in the development of 3 key initiatives:
1. Mural Panels
2. A Community Arts
3. Street Art Education space

Thank you,
Scott and Santiago
