Join the Boston chapter for an evening with Steez Design! Recently relocated from Boston's North Shore to southern New Hampshire, Steez Design is a one-stop design house that can dream up concepts, build them, and bring them to life. Steez Design works on everything from branding to interior and exterior design and layout for commercial businesses such as cafes, restaurants, breweries, retail and more.
Founder, artist, and entrepreneur Andrew Bablo will tell us about his work and what led him to his career as a multidisciplinary designer, fabricator, and installator. You've most likely seen his work in the Boston area and beyond, whether it's a mural, new brand identity, or custom signage. He'll also be giving us a photo tour of his newly built home studio space in southern New Hampshire.

Every experiential graphic designer or fabricator has a scary story to tell. Maybe the story involves vinyl not adhering properly, discovering dimensions are incorrect, or letters' kerning seems off —we've all been there!
Now for Halloween, the SEGD Boston Chapter is providing a chance to share your scary story along with lessons learned from the experience. Starting with a short spooky video tour of Bluebird Graphic Solutions, participants will then share their stories with some drinks and revelry. Attendees will vote on the stories and the winner will receive a prize, courtesy of Bluebird Graphic Solutions. We'll end with a quick virtual happy hour.
Interested in sharing a story? Email co-chair Kayte Muse at [email protected] so we can include you! We have a limited number of storyteller spots open.
Scary Stories Guidelines
- The scary story has to be one from a project you were involved in, contain a lesson learned, and involve your trade.
- Be careful about mentioning names and avoid throwing colleagues under the bus!
- Stories will be limited to five minutes each.
- Open to all SEGD members.
- Costumes are encouraged but not required!

Did you find what you’re looking for? This common customer service question is at the heart of experiential graphic design. The Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) broadly defines the field as incorporating all of the elements–including wayfinding systems, signage, and branded spaces–that create environments that communicate. This work brings together architects, exhibition designers, brand strategists, and many others who collaborate to ensure that the built environment not only meets its intended purpose, but that it also connects communities through memorable experiences.
How has the rise of technology-based solutions and contactless interactions influenced the future of wayfinding and experiential graphic design? In our monthly virtual Design is Everywhere podcast live show, host Sam Aquillano will welcome guest co-host Kayte Muse, who is a designer, strategist, and co-chair of the Boston Chapter of SEGD. Her experience includes experiential graphic design for Affinivax, Boston University, and Mill Creek Residential. Their guest is Cliff Selbert, who, with collaborator Robin Perkins, has won a myriad of international awards, and created some of the world’s most distinguished landmarks, including the Gateway of Los Angeles Airport in California. Sam, Kayte, and Cliff will discuss how to balance the pressing urgencies of our time with the need for accessible spaces that center human connection. They will also share their Weekly Dose of Good Design. Bring your questions, and ask them live on air.
Kayte Muse is co-chair of the Boston Chapter of SEGD along with Jessica Grant and Sam Pease. Kayte has over 17 years of experience designing communication and experiential graphics. As a designer and strategist she is passionate about creative problem solving, design strategy, storytelling, teaching and mentoring. Now working as an independent consultant, Kayte’s recent experience includes experiential graphic design for Affinivax, Boston University and Mill Creek Residential. Previously, Kayte worked as a practice leader at SGA where she directed the Branded Environments studio. Key clients include PUMA, Monotype, CarGurus, LogMeIn, Oracle, INFINIDAT, Duck Creek Technology, CSpace and Wentworth Institute of Technology. Kayte is an Adjunct Professor at Stonehill College and graduated Cum Laude with a BFA in Communications Design from Syracuse University.
Cliff Selbert, with Selbert Perkins Design Founding Partner Robin Perkins, have created some of the world’s most distinguished landmarks, including the iconic and dramatic Gateway at Los Angeles International Airport in California. Their award-winning work for a diverse array of high-profile clients can be seen on five continents—including the Americas, Asia, India, Middle East, and Africa. Robin and Cliff have developed a visionary approach to art, design and communications in the built environment. Their creativity and strategic approach have resulted in national and international recognition for design excellence. Cliff and Robin have been jurors and guest speakers at conferences around the world, published worldwide, and honored with a myriad of international awards, including the SEGD Fellow Award and Los Angeles Business Journal Innovation Award. Cliff is a licensed landscape architect, current member, and former board member of the Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) and the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).
