Wire & Wood: Designing Iconic Guitars explores the basics of guitar design while also considering how some guitars have become icons, how they reached this status, and how technology will affect the instrument in the future.

Time:

4-7pm Volunteer Session

7-9pm Brewery Social ATLANTA BREWING (Red Brick)

Where:

Certified Finishes - 2333 Defoor Hills Road Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30318

In the design and construction industry, we find ourselves creating a lot of waste from expired or unused materials collected in our finish libraries that inevitably make their way to the landfill.

So we asked why not repurpose, or upcycle, these materials back into our community? Once unwanted materials can have a new life as free-source materials for educators and non-profit associations, or be transformed into works of art by artists and crafters.

IIDA Georgia (International Interior Design Association of Georgia) is hosting the 6th annual ZeroLandfill Atlanta event with Wilsonart. To date, we have helped upcycle more than 209,000 pounds of discontinued architectural and interior design samples.

Help us beat our previous year totals by participating in the 2019 ZeroLandfill Atlanta event!

We'd like to encourage as many SEGD ATL members as possible to come out volunteer on Material Drop off day for ZERO LANDFILL 2018!  This is a great chance to give back to our community and keep tons of discarded sample chips out of our landfills! It's also the perfect opportunity to connect with other local members of IIDA (International Interior Design Association). Each volunteer hour can be self-reported as one USGBC CE hour to help you maintain your LEED GA or AP credentials.

Food will be provided during the Volunteer sessions and as a reward for your hard work, APCO Signs & SEGD ATL will be sponsoring/hosting a beer social just across the street at Red Brick Brewery from 7-9.  All SEGD volunteers are welcome to attend!

Thanks to all who attended last week's event! What a great night! Local Sign Painter Chris Sturdivant The Debonair Sign Man kept us engaged and inspired as he demonstrated his craft and walked us through the life of a sign painter! It was a treat to see so many young and new faces attending! Lots of great new student connections were made! Congrats to our raffle winners, who took home hand painted show cards! And a very special thanks to our new annual sustaining sponsor PWG (PhotoWorksGroup) for a great presentation! We are looking forward to a successful partnership with PWG throughout the year! And thanks SRSSA for sponsoring the incredible space for the event!
