Celeste Skachill is an experience designer at Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. Te Papa is New Zealand’s national museum, renowned for being bicultural, scholarly, innovative and fun.
The new role within Te Papa is focused on enabling the user-centered design approach to be integrated into everyday museum culture and processes, ensuring that the experiences we are designing are centered around the user. An important part of this is guiding change across all levels of the museum, inspiring and empowering others to see the value in design-led organizational processes and culture.
Prior to joining Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, Celeste Skachill worked as a designer for Open Lab NZ. Open Lab brings together experienced design professionals, academics, graduates and students into multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems and create unexpected design solutions.
At Open Lab NZ, her role was varied and included a variety of graphic design outputs, including print design, branding, videography, furniture design, event design, workshop facilitation, brand strategy.
Celeste is a two-time Best Awards DINZ winner: Best Awards Winner | Graphic – Bronze Winner in October 2014 and Best Awards | Nga Aho – Bronze Winner in October 2015.
Celeste Skachill holds a Bachelor of Design (Hons) First Class in Visual Communication Design. She majored in graphic and user-centered experience design.
