The SEGD Academic Summit is a forum for trends in design education research, projects, and curriculum innovation for design academics, students, and researchers. This event is great for industry members as well to reconnect with the new ideas that are coming from researchers today. Every year SEGD invites community members to submit to a Call for Papers, and those papers selected will be presented at the SEGD Academic Summit.
This year’s deadline to submit paper abstracts is coming up fast on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 12 pm ET. That’s only one week away! Why should you submit to the 2023 Academic Summit call for papers? Keep reading to find out!
1. Professional Exposure
For the past three years, SEGD has transitioned the Academic Summit from an in-person event to a fully virtual conference. This allows students, educators, professionals, researchers, and industry members from around the world to join this 2-day conference. Over the last three years, we have had over 175+ live attendees for this event. This event allows for connections to be made between many industry members that may have never happened before!
2. Freshen up those presentation skills
Along with the academic paper that is submitted to SEGD for publishing in the Communication + Place journal we ask each selected paper to prepare a presentation for the virtual Academic Summit event. This gives students the opportunity to practice their presentation skills by presenting their project and research to an audience and offers academics and professionals the opportunity to revisit skills that they may have not been able to utilize in certain areas of their careers.
3. Get Published!
Did you know that the SEGD academic journal, Communication + Place, is an officially published journal? Along with its own ISBN number, the journal is also published on the SEGD website and. And distributed throughout all of SEGD’s social media platforms and via email to community members.
So what are you waiting for? Submit your research to the 2023 SEGD Academic Summit Call for Papers today!
