Brad Larson focuses on digital storytelling that records guests’ experiences in public exhibit spaces.  (See his presentation: “A New Model for Popup Exhibits and Community Storytelling” in the video below).

Before starting his own business, Brad Larson Media, Inc., he was the Technology Developer at The Children’s Museum in Boston for ten years, where he focused on technology applications that promote family learning. He received his EdM in the Interactive Technologies in Education program at Harvard Graduate School of Education, including a year-long work/study program at the MIT Media Lab.

Brad has contributed to the field with presentations at AAM, ASTC, and AYM/ACM, and wrote the section on incorporating technologies in exhibits for the Association of Youth Museum’s (AYM/ACM) guidebook on starting a new museum, Collective Vision. Recently he has served as a website judge for Museums and the Web and the New England Museum Association, and as a Reviewer for IMLS Leadership Grant proposals. In addition to his museum work, Brad led the technical development of DC Heath/Houghton Mifflin’s industry-leading CD-ROM language learning products, and began his career with Atari Special Projects as a computer instructor at a resort in the Dominican Republic.

Installations include projects for Smithsonian’s National Zoo (named “Best Museum Website” at Museums and the Web 2004), American Museum of Natural History, Science Museum of Minnesota, Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, and children’s museums across the U.S., where he has focused in particular on technologies that add visitors’ stories and comments to exhibits. His current focus is on post-visit learning, following his presentation “Using Museum Websites to Change Visitors’ Real-World Behavior” at Museums and the Web 2005 in Vancouver.
