Our profession has been humming along at an incredible growth rate for at least the past two years, with the sentiment that the momentum is still accelerating. Firms are betting big on developing new teams, employing new senior level leaders, developing digitally skilled teams and making capital investments.
SEGD is moving in lockstep with those successes. In the past four years, we’ve grown in financial stability, event attendance, membership, awareness, reach and new content through the website. Hundreds of thousands (over 300,000 this year already) of new visitors are finding experiential graphic design due to our improved search optimization and content creation.
“What's in it for you?" has been the board and staff focus the past four years to ensure that SEGD becomes more relevant for the community. SEGD is helping to connect designers to clients, fabricators to designers and vendors to designers and fabricators on SEGD.org. The website produces 4,000+ outbound links to member firms websites every month. We’re using a new tool called Leadfeeder to understand our visitors’ behavior on SEGD.org, learning how they are browsing for designers, firms and other information. It is confirming our initial assumption that clients are looking for designers and fabricators on the site.
We’re stable and growing well, with an agreed plan in place to continue building value for members. But SEGD is still very small and severely underfunded compared to what must still be done to support a rapidly growing profession. Membership dues, event registrations, sponsorship and advertising pay for daily operations and the programs we generate for the profession. To do more to promote the value of the profession for society, we need additional funding from you. SEGD has always been a generous community with their time and resources.
(This is where "It's not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" comes in.)
Not every year will be as great as this year. So now is the time to make all your hard work this year count toward creating something more meaningful than just the impact on your bottom line!
In June, the Board voted to start investigating how we can put in place a more solid plan for research on the profession.
Your 2016 major gift to SEGD will help generate a dedicated capital fund to grow the research and case studies we need to promote the value of the profession. Reduce your tax burden and do something out of love for the continued growth of your profession.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to SEGD of $5,000, $10,000, $25,000 or more. These funds will not go towards daily operations, but will be reserved for research activities only.
