Happy New Year and welcome to 2020!
I am honored to succeed Bryan Meszaros as President of SEGD and look forward to building on his extensive accomplishments. His dedicated leadership helped the SEGD Board and staff grow our global community to a record-breaking 42 national and international Chapters.
In case we haven’t yet met, I’m a Principal in the New York office of Entro, a place branding and experiential graphic design firm with offices in Toronto, Calgary, New York, Sydney and Zürich. I’ve been on the SEGD Board of Directors since 2016, serving as Bryan’s Vice President for the past two years.
Prior to that, I also served as a New York Chapter Chair. I am excited to step into the role of President and look forward to expanding the vision and initiatives established by my predecessors.
2020 promises to be the start of another exceptional decade for SEGD. We have many things to look forward to this year:
- The annual Branded Environments event at the Digital Signage Expo (DSE) in Las Vegas on March 31-April 1
- The invaluable Management & Leadership event in Cincinnati geared towards Mid-Level and Senior-Level members on April 24
- The SEGD Conference Experience Portland in Portland, Oregon, June 10–13
- The biennial Exhibition & Experience Design event in Washington DC on July 23-24
- The Wayfinding & Placemaking event in Kansas City on September 17-18
- Xlab, which continues to grow every year, in November
This is an exciting time of transition and growth for SEGD. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with our recently hired Chief Executive Officer Search Committee; the SEGD staff led by our Interim CEO, Ann Makowski; the Board of Directors including my executive team of Vice President Kathy Fry of Mayer/Reed, Treasurer Mike McCarthy of DCL; and, of course, our Past President Bryan Meszaros of OpenEye Global, as we work to fill the permanent CEO role. Additionally, one of my primary goals is to connect with you, the community, as we continue to strengthen our educational offerings, and further define our understanding of, and deliver on, what brings value to our diverse community.
As we move into 2020, we are excited to welcome some new faces to our Board of Directors. It is my pleasure to announce the return of Lucy Holmes of Holmes Studio and the addition of David Siegel of Designtex and Annelle Stotz of Gensler. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to long-term Board members Patrick Angelel of CREO, John Lutz of Selbert Perkins Design and Julie Vogel of Kate Keating Associates, who are stepping off the Board, but certainly not away from the community.
I’m looking forward to connecting with old friends and new. Here’s to an exciting 2020!
