Becky Stern is the Director of Wearable Electronics at Adafruit.
Adafruit was founded in 2005, and has grown to more than 50 employees in the heart of NYC with a 15,000+ sq.-ft. factory. The company’s offerings include online training, tools, equipment, and electronics for makers of all ages and skill levels. In 2014, Adafruit was ranked #11 in the top 20 USA manufacturing companies and #1 in New York City by Inc. 5000's "fastest growing private companies."
Each week, Becky publishes a new do-it-yourself craft+tech project tutorial and video and also hosts the YouTube Live show "Wearable Electronics with Becky Stern." She's been combining textiles with electronics since 2005, and co-authored the book Getting Started with Adafruit FLORA. She's been shooting video since age five, and sewing since age eight. She was an editor and video producer for MAKE from 2007 to 2012 and a member of the internet-based group Free Art & Technology (FAT) from 2008 to 2015.
Becky Stern received her BFA in Design & Technology from Parsons The New School for Design, and did her graduate studies at Arizona State University in Arts, Media and Engineering as well as Sculpture. She teaches at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.
