Base Design (Brussels) was selected to develop the visual identity for Rives de Saône, an urban development project in Lyon, France, that combines architectural, artistic, and environmental elements. The project is part of a large-scale redevelopment of the riverbanks initiated by the Grand Lyon urban community.
Divided into eight distinct riverbank sequences, the project will extend over several years. The complete scene, the “River Movie,” is composed of 23 artworks that flank the riverbank and give the Saône River a new visual identity. By 2013, 15km of the intended 22 km will be completed, while the remaining parts will be renovated later.
Base Design’s visual identity for the project is inspired by the artworks as well as the concept of the Myriorama, a game of illustrated cards portraying the landscape as a panorama, which can be arranged and rearranged endlessly to form different scenes.
