Andrew Van Der Westhuyzen is a Designer/Director and co-founder of Sydney based design and film collective Collider, who cover a broad spectrum of creative fields.
Andrew Van Der Westhuyzen's role as creative director for Collider has seen him conceptually lead many campaigns for local and international clients such as Sydney Theatre Company, Biennale of Sydney, City of Sydney, MTV Australia, Lend Lease, Qantas, Sydney Film Festival, Sydney Dance Company, BMW, Sydney Harbour Federation Trust, Royal Australian Institute of Architects, Ministry of Sound, Australian Tourism and IBM. The Collider Studio covers a multitude of media from typography for print campaigns to animation direction, branding, art direction, interactive and environmental design. Andrew Van der Westhuyzen’s creative process comes from a strong adherence to his personal techniques and his classical principles for strong, idea-oriented design.
He has been widely published, has talked at various design conferences in Australia and overseas, and was recently a guest speaker at the Design Institute of Australia's lecture series on 'Design Icons of Australia' at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney.
Andrew Van Der Westhuyzen is a 2014 SEGD Global Design Award Merit Winner for his work on the Sydney Theater Company Honour Wall which features a series of clear boxes housing special props and wardrobe featured in a variety of productions over the company's history.
