Andrea Weatherhead is the principal of WEATHERHEAD Experience Design. As the person who guides the company’s overall direction and commitment to quality, Andrea Weatherhead directs all educational and content development processes, including design, editorial, interactives, and media production. She also provides individual consultation and creative direction on numerous exhibit projects throughout the country.
Prior to founding WEATHERHEAD, Andrea was the Director of Interactive Development at Experience Music Project (now called EMP Museum) in Seattle. While there, she directed the development of Sound Lab, EMP’s popular interactive gallery.
Back in 2000, when Andrea Weatherhead was featured as the “woman to watch out for in technology in the 21st century” by Seattle Magazine, she took it as a challenge to live up to her own potential in the field of interactive exhibit design. Since then, her visionary educational and interactive exhibit environments have earned her numerous awards, including several Gold MUSE Awards from the American Association of Museums. Her work on EMP’s Sound Lab earned her a spot in the Exploratorium publication Are We There Yet? Conversations about Best Practices in Exhibit Development. WEATHERHEAD’s work was also featured in two chapters ofConnecting Kids to History with Museum Exhibitions, edited by D. Lynn McRainey and John Russick.
Andrea was recently cited as “one of Seattle’s 36 most influential people” by Seattle Met Magazine (April 2013). She was also featured in May 2014 on the TV showWorld’s Greatest, which described her as “the world’s greatest exhibit designer.”
An avid musician and composer, Andrea also enjoys outdoor activities of all kinds including hiking, boating, and adventure travel.
