Alan Howell has nineteen years of aviation design experience and a decade of other interesting design experience to draw from as he assists and expands the Metropolitan Airports Commission’s Vision Statement to Providing Your Best Airport Experience.

In his role as Senior Airport Architect, Alan Howell is responsible for the conceptualization and implementation of new facilities, major remodeled facilities (such as the ongoing MSP Operational Improvements: Arrivals|Departures) and facility redevelopment/repurposing at all of MAC’s airports—all with an interest and focus on sustainable practices, universal design, multi-department/multi-discipline coordination, with the guest experience and interaction as the center of design.

The current Operational Improvements: A|D program is a seven-year program reimagining the 56-year-old Terminal-1 Lindbergh Departures and Arrivals halls, with expansion and re-purposing on a constrained site, with the opportunity to provide more consistency in wayfinding (between MSP and other airports, including nomenclature and iconography) and an enhanced passenger experience through intuitive wayfinding, signage and technology.
